Colors by Heather

One of my very favorite books when I was a child was Colors are Nice, which was part of the little Golden Books collection. I used to read it over and over again when I was a little girl and marvel at all the different colors and how they corresponded to each other. As we head into the month of March, I’m thinking about color and getting excited to see what new combinations we will come up with this season. The winter is full of so many amazing opportunities for outdoor activities and indoor rejuvenation, but it’s not a time that I focus very much on color. I am getting excited to see the colors of the rainbow that will be taking over the interior of the greenhouses. The months of planning and preparation are about to give way to action as we begin our yearly process of seeding and transplanting in our warm greenhouses.

We have a couple of fun workshops coming up this month that will allow participants to delve into color and creativity under the direction of some very talented local artists. It will be interesting to see what colors people are craving after the long, white winter.

March is also a time that I think of transitions, and this year we have a lot of transitions at the garden center. As we say goodbye to a few beloved members of our team, we also look forward the greeting new staff and seeing returning staff transition to new roles.

This spring, we will celebrate our 15 year anniversary at East Branch Organics. Stay tuned for some very exciting events to commemorate the occasion. It’s going to be a busy year!
